This young patient came to see Dr. Aiello for several reasons beyond the cosmetic. She had a painful retracted vertical appendectomy scar and a deep ventral hernia above the umbilicus (belly button). She wanted to get rid of her excess abdomen, especially the bulging fat removed in the lower abdomen. Dr. Aiello performed and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with liposuction to her upper abs, hip rolls and pubis to further compliment the tummy tuck and contour her waist line. Abdominoplasty is a procedure that clearly removes excess skin on the abdomen, what you don't see is the internal muscle wall repair that gives this procedure it's long lasting results! Separated abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis) are common among mothers and major weight loss patients. These weakened core muscles can cause you to have poor posture, making you look more overweight because you have lost the capacity and strength needed to properly hold in your inside organs, fat, muscle, etc. She is pictured only 2 months after her procedures. Her scar line is very new, so it's still clearly visible. Over the next few months it will fade from view as it matures completely. Patients are always concerned with the prospect of their abdominal scar, but the trade off to gain the body shape they've always desired is well worth it! PROCEDURE DETAILS: Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) with Liposuction to her upper abs, hip rolls and pubis. Retracted Appendectomy Scar Removal and Ventral Hernia Repair.
